Radio Serendipity

NPR did a story yesterday on a website that is very similar to the subject of this week’s podcast. NPR interviewed the young man behind Dear Photograph, a blog in which people transpose old photographs on the original location for a new photo.

Dear Photograph,
She loved to sit outside her flat, where she lived in Thornton Heath for fifty years, cradling my eldest brother. I still miss my Nan and always will.

Listen to the story here, and tune in tomorrow to hear about Return to Atlanta, a blog that juxtaposes photos of Atlanta, then and now.

Our best graffiti Friday EVER!

Big thanks to our friend Claire-Marie Hefner, who took these shots in Indonesia and sent them to us.

The first two are located in the alleyway of Jl. Ahmad Dahlan in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.  The second one reads “no peeing here!”

These two are located behind Beringkarjo Market in Yogyakarta.  The two men in the last one are Sukarno (first president of Indonesia) and Muhammad Hatta (first vice president).

These last two are located under the train bridge on Jl. Abu Bakar in Yogyakarta and were taken Oct 15, 2011.  All the other photos are from Dec 22, 2011.

Graffiti is actually NOT illegal in Indonesia.  So show some love for this post and we can convince Claire to send us more awesome shots.

Episode 29: Bowling shoes

Ok, it’s more about the bowling than the shoes. In this episode Elizabeth and special guest Thomas Busby hit the lanes, Suburban Lanes that is.  There’s more to our fair city than tacos, burgers, and frozen yogurt.  There are also things to do.  Bowling is one.

Listen here or download us from itunes

Topics include:

Why people like bowling, high scores, league versus open bowlers, and the critical stance
