Out There Atlanta

When Nick Love’s Suntrust account informed him that he’d spent 45% of his income eating out, he knew he had a problem. He decided to take action… and thus, his blog ATL Bite Life was born.  In ATL Bite Life, this Atlanta native combines his music industry experience with his love for good food. The blog features music and food news as well as videos of him sharing a meal with up-and-coming rappers, talking about music, life, and of course, the food.

According to the old song it’s “goin’ down the road feeling bad.”  You can reverse that feeling by making Buford Highway the road you’re traveling.  In Wednesday’s episode we travel that not-so-lonesome highway with a friend, getting plenty of food along the way.  

Fall is coming on strong.  That means your food cravings are changing.  It’s time for more sweet potato.  We started thinking, what are are some good places in town to get your fix?  Here’s what we came up with.

Morelli’s ice cream They were on scoutmob not too long back and they have an awesome sweet potato flavor.  It’s pretty impressive.

Of course, one of our first podcasts took us to the Sweet Auburn Curb Market.  The Sweet Auburn Bakery there has a great sweet potato cheesecake. (See photo)  Bill Clinton enjoyed it when he visited.

It can’t all be dessert, can it? If you hit Rise n Dine you can get hooked up with all kinds of good food, including sweet potato pancakes.

If you head over to Community Q for some barbecue, you can hook yourself up with some smoked sweet potato with braised kale.  

And by the way, Emory has a yam festival going on now through Oct 9.  It includes cooking demos by folks from Miller Union, Cakes & Ale, and more.
